It has been a LONG time since I blogged. Two months to be exact. I am back though. With a new page. I am going to try to update this often.
Today, I have decided to put up "JJ's Premature Oscar Nomination Predictions." These in no way are locks. I am just going on the buzz I see on sites such as Awards Circuit.com and what I feel the Academy will do.
These are not in the order in which they will win. I will put down who I predict to win at the end of the list.

Here is who I pick to win out of the nominations I listed:
Best Pic: Milk
Best Director: Christopher Nolan- The Dark Knight
Best Actor: Viggo Morensen- The Road
Best Actress: Kate Winslet- Revolutionary Road
Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger- The Dark Knight
Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis- Doubt
Obviously, these are not all of the "Big 8," but I didn't want to delve into Screenplays yet. Those can be hard to predict.
The Reason I chose Milk for Best Picture is because of the powerful trailer that was released. I also feel like the Academy will want to show that they appreciate "gay" films after not honoring Brokeback Mountain with the Best Pic Oscar (a move that I thought was a right move, BB is a good film but not the best of that year).
I think Nolan will take home the statue for Best Director because of the response that TDK received and the fact that it is the greatest of its genre. Nolan has been well respected for years as he has made great film after great film.
Viggo will finally get a much deserved Oscar. I really thought he should have won for Eastern Promises a year ago, but Day-Lewis is an Oscar darling and got another "Gold-Man" to add to his collection of accolades. Viggo will put forth another strong performance and I feel that the love will be there for him.
Winslet is one of the greatest actresses of her generation and she still doesn't have an Oscar. Enough said.
The Ledger Buzz will finally come to fruition as the Academy will find it to hard to resist honoring a great actor whose life was cut short. I know Bardem won the same Award last year for playing a villain, but I think Ledger's performance is one of the greatest ever.
Viola Davis is getting a lot of strong buzz from what I understand. It is said she has a great performance of the mother of a son caught in the middle of a scandal in a Catholic School. I also feel the Academy will want to honor Doubt with an acting award and this is where they will do it.
These are definitely not STONE COLD LOCKS as much can change in the next few months. I will revisit this list come nomination time to see how well I did.
Check back again y'all,
JJ
